My father has always been a car guy, both professionally, selling auto parts, and recreationally, street racing late at night when he was young. Some of my early memories are from hood-height, listening to conversations he had with a friend while rebuilding the engine of a vintage Camaro. The character in this print is a composite of several of my father's friends and co-workers I met when I was growing up in Missouri.
